Mr. J. E. Joseph has bought the Peak Hospital with all its contents from the present proprieters, and is prepared to lease it to the Government of Hongkong at » nominal rent on condition that the hospital is maintained and carried on as it has hitherto been,

The Government of Hongkong has accepted Kr. Joseph's generous offer, and will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the institution. It is proposed to appoint a Committee of Management consisting of the Principal Civil Medical Officer as chairman, three private medical practit- ioners, the Matron of the hospital, and members of the business community.

It was Mr. Joseph's wish to make over the property absolutely to the Colony, but in view of the fact that the proposed Marsing Home, and the Kowloon Hospital, will be available in a few years, it has been decided by agreement with Mr. Joseph that he should have an opportunity later on of re-considering the form which his gift to the Colony should take.

Joseph,

The enclosed letter has been addressed to Mr.

8th September, 1922.
